picture1Ancient crops are back, and they’re helping us fight the effects of climate change. ‘These crops could be the answer to climate change effects that we will be experiencing more and more.’

The Horizon magazine article ‘How ancient crops could counteract climate change effects’ interviewed Professor Sven-Erik Jacobsen, coordinator of the PROTEIN2FOOD project that’s exploring ancient crops and legumes to help make modern agriculture more sustainable.

Project researchers focus on species of high protein quality grains (quinoa, amaranth, and buckwheat), and legumes (pea, faba bean, and lupin). These crops of warmer origins can be introduced to make modern farming more sustainable.
